Dental

The medical and dental situation for the poor in Yunnan is bleak. A Medical Clinic and Dental Clinic were established in Kunming at the Hua Xia Technical School (the majority of the students at this school are disabled) in 1998.  These clinics provide free treatment for the students of the school, as well as the poor of Kunming.

Dental Care in Yunnan is far less accessible in remote areas than general health care. A Preventative Dental Care Team has been training practitioners throughout the province for over five years. They provide training to hundreds of rural dentists each year. As a result, a large number of people are treated through free clinics provided along with these trainings. Training is also provided through this system in cooperation with the Colgate Company. Thousands of students receive free toothbrushes and toothpaste and dental care instruction to help them achieve good dental health.

There are many opportunities each year for Short Term Teams to join in the work of BCI Some teams come to the Province to join in with the work of dental education and field dentistry work. Dental clinics are held in villages that do not have access to dental care.
